LUJA Academy
The industry platform for knowledge, testing, and development in bandsaw technology
It is a stated goal that Luja Academy is the industry's development platform and has clear goals to raise the bandsaw to a new level. Luja Academy works with bandsaw technology as a whole – based on research into the complex interaction between three main elements, where we can create significantly better results:
The Machine | The Tool | The Raw Material

Driven by support and partnerships
The academy is driven by support and collaboration partners and functions as an independent development platform for the entire industry.
Here, experiences, data, tests, and theory are gathered, and from here, new standards will be formed.
The place is a competence center that gathers knowledge and experience about the operation of bandsaws, including maintenance, construction, cutting technology, and the tool.
Luja was founded by Søren Luja Hansen, one of the most experienced specialists in optimizing bandsaws in Northern Europe.
After 20 years of consulting, operation, and technical development, it is time for a change of direction so that this knowledge is not wasted and so that another layer is added… We must gather knowledge.
Test hypotheses.
And create improvement through documented knowledge.
Cutting is crucial
Wood is one of our most valuable natural resources.
It stores CO₂ for decades and can be used in everything from buildings to packaging.
But only if we process it efficiently and precisely – with respect for the material.
Here, the cutting plays a crucial role.
Bandsaws are technically demanding but hold immense potential:
- Narrow cuts = less waste, more usable wood
- Lower energy consumption
- Better yield per log
Therefore, we at Luja Academy work to document and develop
bandsaw technology for the benefit of both the climate and industry.
We work confidentially
Luja Academy is an experimenting competence center with ambitions.
We collaborate confidentially and focused with partners who want to help document and demonstrate a new era for bandsaw technology.
